SCHOOL DONATIONS NEEDED

As you probably noticed from your recent visits to Wyandotte, the West Courtyard of the school has a waterfall with pool [fish in it], flowers and vegetables of all kind, a project begun when the school began 1st Things 1st back in the 1990's. The project recently was the receiver of beautiful rust red tiles for use as walkways and they have nearly all been installed, even a bench has been added.

Joanne Postlewait has been placed in charge of keeping this area up. She has made designs for the East Courtyard along entirely different lines. Using more of the rust red tiles as a base, with the addition of a table and four chairs over them [all removable if necessary], these will be tastefully added in several areas of the courtyard. The idea is that the area can be used by the school, reunion groups, the PTA, etc. for picnics, lunches, dinners, breakfasts, as well as provide a venue for small drama and play productions and many other functions. She has already added flowers and will add other touches as well.

She is seeking funding from various places. The Class of 1949 was in recently and donated $500 to the school: half to the Alumni Center and half to the new courtyard project. What she'd like to see is other classes and individual alumni contribute to this project as well. Each area with tiles, table and chair will cost between $300-350.

For those alumni who are looking for a way to give back here is your chance.

Checks can be made out to Wyandotte High School and can be marked in lower left corner for "Courtyard Project", and mailed to the school at 2501 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS 66102. For questions or more details please contact Joanne Postlewait at 627-7650 (Wyandotte office).
