Left Wyandotte High School in 1961 with a scholarship to Cottey College, a 2 year college,
was selected for the first People-to-People
overseas program to Europe fo the summer of 1963.
Traveled much of Europe by train and then hitch hiked through France from Paris over the Pyranees
to Pamploma and then on to Madrid and Barcelona.
Stayed in Europe for a year in Barcelona after the program and went to the University of Barcelona. Sang folk songs with two guys from the States and had a memorable year. Fly back to New York and Stayed in New York for a year working at a Japanese bank, Sanwa bank and went to school at Pace College. Came back to Kansas went to KU met my husband to be, Brad West. We married in 1969
while he was in Special Forces in Fayetteville, NC. We had our first child, Vanessa, in Fayetteville, NC, March 20, 1971 and came back to Kansas, Lawrence, that year as my Mother was diagnosed with bone cancer. Mother died in 1974.
Brad went back to school and got two degrees.
Our son, Colin was born Nov 6, 1975. I became a travel agent at Maupintour for eight years, doing lots of travel,and then worked in optometry and then back to Travel for another 20 years. Currently I work for the Federal Government at Vangent, Inc.talking to seniors and people with disability.I do a lot of volunteer work and one of my passions is Girl Scouting. I am the Teen Coordinator for Douglas County Girl Scouts. Our Program is strong and we have over a 100 teen scouts. Life is Fun and always entertaining.
